About Event

Severe plastic deformation (SPD) is a class of metalworking techniques that involve very large strains, typically in the form of a shear strain, resulting in a high defect density and ultrafine grain in the processed metals with no significant change in their dimensions. By developing fine grain, the mechanical properties of the processed metal will be enhanced. Over the last two decades, many SPD processes have been developed by researchers, and the SPD process is gaining a lot of attention from researchers due to its ability to increase the properties of the metal without distorting its shape or creating defects. • This workshop focuses on a few of those recently developed SPD processes and their research aspects.
• This workshop will be useful for the researchers working in the Metal forming domain, especially in the SPD process, and those exploring a potential area to start their research.
• Finite element analysis (FEA) is a useful tool to understand the stress-strain distribution of the SPD process. So, in this workshop, a demonstration of two widely used FEA tools, ABAQUS and DEFORM 3D will be delivered along with the demo on an SPD process
